The Vulcan Restoration Trust will be hosting another Open Day at London Southend Airport on Sunday, September 24.

Vulcan XL426 will be parked outside its Hangar 6 home and the team will be on hand to give guided tours, and for a small additional fee you can climb inside the Vulcan’s cockpit.

Other displays include a rare WE177B nuclear bomb, carried by the Vulcan during its time with the RAF, as well as examples of the 1,000 lb high explosive bombs the Vulcan dropped on Port Stanley airfield during the 1982 Falklands Conflict.

Also on display will be the life raft which the Vulcan’s crew would have used had they had to bale out of the aircraft over the sea.

There will be a face painting and burger, hot dog, ice cream and doughnut stands, and a micro brewery, along with the VRT souvenir stand.

VRT Trustee, Richard Clarkson said : “The Vulcan open days are going from strength to strength and are really becoming a great day out with so much to offer for the whole family.

“We have visitors of all ages from all over the country attend these open days now as the popularity of this ‘magnificent flying machine’ grows and grows.

“The VRT look forward to welcoming all guests and giving them a unique experience and hopefully one they will never forget”.

General admission is £4.00 for adults with accompanied under-16s admitted FREE. Admission allows you entry to walk around the Vulcan, take a guided tour if you wish and take photographs. An additional £3.50 per person applicable to both adults and under-16s will gain you entry for a tour of XL426’s cockpit.

Doors open at 10.00 a.m. on each day with last admission at 4.00 p.m.

Admission and cockpit tickets will only be on sale ‘at the door’ – please note that there are no advance ticket sales.

Entry is free for Vulcan Restoration Trust members.
