International Bomber Command Centre remembers the fallen

Three hundred local school children with their teachers and some parents joined the IBCC team in Lincolnshire on November 10 for a special service of Remembrance. They were joined by veteran bomb aimer Les Rutherford and his wife Coral who spent time talking to the children about their wartime experiences.
Following the laying of wreaths the children were given biographies of some of the men named on the walls and placed poppies in their honour. A further service was held on November 12 during which £3,000 was raised to help create a Runway of Gold from the Centre to the IBCC’s impressive 31-metre tall Spire. Meanwhile, work on the IBCC’s exhibition is almost complete. Each of its three galleries will highlight a different part of the bombing war and explain its legacy.
