£1 million donation to Bomber Command Memorial

Businessman and philanthropist Lord Ashcroft has donated the last £1 million required for the construction of the Bomber Command Memorial in London’s Green Park.

He recently visited the site, where work on the roof has now started. The memorial is due to be unveiled on June 28. Bomber Command Association chairman Malcolm White thanked Lord Ashcroft for his vital contribution: “Without this incredibly generous donation and the support of the RAF Benevolent Fund in taking on the guardianship of the memorial, it would not have been built and we would not be eight weeks away from completion.
